How to Make an Adorable Fabric Heart Wedding Planner Bookmark

Grab those fabric scraps, old shirts, or summer dresses for the cutest and easiest 1-2-3 DIY project ever! These corner heart bookmarks make for the perfect detail for your wedding planner book or as a thoughtful last minute gift for bridesmaids, wedding party people, and all those other book-loving wedding day VIPs. Give old fabric a new life as an adorable accoutrement for your pages. Even if you're not getting married, these heart-shaped cuties make wonderful treats for your favorite bookworm or Galentine's Day coming up soon, too.

Whether you prefer to hand stitch or use a sewing machine, you can do whatever your preference is for this project! We will be doing everything by hand since it's a bit more accessible for all crafters. But if you have a lot of heart bookmarks you want to make, you can also cut out your felt and fabric with an electronic cutting machine like Cricut Maker 3 and the rotary blade.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Cut out 2" wide hearts from your felt and your cotton fabric. You can print a template from online if you would like, freehand cut, or use your Cricut Maker cutting machine. If your scraps has a 90 degree angle already, then take advantage of it and have that help you create the perfect corner edge!

2. Layer your two hearts to begin sewing. Starting from the felt side, do a basic stitch (or any preferred stitch!). The one we have done as seen in the photos is called a running stitch (e.g., dotted line). On the back of our bookmark is like a backstitch (e.g., continuous line). You will need to create an “L” shape with your completed stitches, leaving the curved section open. This is where you will insert it onto your book pages!
