Inspired by Ginger Jars Amidst a Reschedule

When Emily and Sean planned their original May wedding, they hadn't known that there would be a pandemic closely following their plans and ultimately would end up being the reason that they had to reschedule their special day. Though they had to downsize for a now-fall wedding, that didn't stop these two from having a gorgeous celebration at the perfectly suited open air venue, Roanoke Island Festival Park, in the Outer Banks! Inspired by her Mom's personal ginger jar collection, shades of blue and white decorated Emily and Sean's coastal theme through their centerpieces, stationery, getting ready attire, and general decor.

Photographed by Kristi Midgette Photography and coordinated by Southern Hospitality Weddings & Events, Sean and Emily said I Do in front of their nearest and dearest surrounded by their supportive bridesmaids and groomsmen which is exactly how their wedding story first started when Sean privately proposed at their home and then surprised Emily with an engagement party at a local rooftop bar with their loved ones in attendance to congratulate them.

With those timeless ginger jars at the core of their inspiration, modern vibrant pink blooms popped against the navy blue, and coastal wicker lanterns and lounge furniture dotted their reception space to create a welcoming, intimate, and pandemic-safe wedding ambiance. The heart of Emily and Sean's event was getting married to each other, so everything else was a bonus! Emily advises other couples facing unexpected changes that it's important to stay flexible even in the midst of cutting down a guest list. Bigger is not always better, and they appreciated that they could enjoy each person's company, eat the food they selected, and dance the night away thanks to their amazing band. At the end of the day, two best friends married, and that's a great reason to celebrate come what may.
