A No-Joke April Fools' Day Proposal Turned into This Gorgeous Fall Vintage Wedding

When Leo popped the question, Kathryn knew he wasn't joking — even though it was April Fools' Day. It was the first warm day of the year, and the pair were walking their puppers Eustace through the gardens at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts when they said yes to each other after many years together. While they had a sweetly quiet engagement, their fall vintage wedding brought all the boldness through their rich and dreamy color palette.

With its natural stone and water backdrops, The Mill at Fine Creek perfectly highlighted Kathryn's breathtaking long-sleeved lace wedding gown and an elegant cascading bouquet filled with everything from dahlias, calla lilies, to lisianthus. Since one of Kathryn's bridesmaids runs a floral business in New York, it was with that expert talent that they ordered different textures of flowers to match their jewel-toned theme.

With Ch & Sh Fredericks Photography behind the lens, each meaningful moment was captured alongside the beautiful details. We especially adored that Kathryn's father gifted the couple with Dom Pérignon anniversary champagne and that her grandmother has a tradition that she presents family heirloom rings to the bride after the wedding ceremony. There was so much to love about this gorgeous autumnal celebration set at one of the most beautiful wedding venues outside of Richmond. Between a world-renowned pastry chef and his almond chiffon cake with whipped almond custard and raspberry preserves, mismatched plum purple and crimson red bridesmaid dresses, and handmade signage, this romantic wedding is definitely no joke when it comes to being memorable.
