When Star Wars Meets Pride and Prejudice

In this galaxy very near, they met because of a book. It tumbled into discovering their mutual love of Star Wars, their children's shenanigans, and all things literature, so when their own love story unfolded into a Mr. Darcy-filled proposal and then the planning of their wedding day, there was no doubt that Melissa and Brian would have the ultimate in Pride and Prejudice and Star Wars wedding theme mashups... in the most gorgeously elegant way ever! With an English garden aesthetic and a twist of galactic easter eggs hidden throughout, it was a feast for the eyes and memories at the Branch Museum of Architecture and Design in Richmond.

From hand-painted Star Wars pink bridal shoes donning Darth Vader and Yoda, pink and purple pastel flowers spilling over mantles befitting of an Austen romance, the most artistic tiered wedding cake with sculpted Star Wars characters mixed with sugar lace, to the cameo of one happy pug, we cannot get enough of this celebration. Melissa and Brian had both been married before, and Melissa shared she never had the big wedding, so Brian's heart was to make their day out of this world special. Cue all of the heart squeezes because even though their theme was breathtakingly geeky chic, these two lovebirds' smiles for each other are definitely our most favorite detail photographed by David Abel Weddings.

In a color palette of pastel pinks, purples, and whites set against the backdrop of classic gray stonework, LK Events and Design orchestrated Melissa and Brian's wedding to also incorporate family in every nook and cranny. An heirloom brooch attached to the bride's bouquet ribbon, photos of loved ones who were there in spirit decorated a place of honor, and their children dancing the night away were all cherished moments. Everything reminded them that love (and of course, the force) will be with them always.
