Relaxed Wedding with Lots of Gorgeous Rustic Wood Details

Meredith and Todd had been together for more than a decade before he proposed. They had lived together for seven years, owned a home, and owned a business together, so it was assumed they would skip the wedding and keep doing life together as usual. But unbeknownst to Meredith, Todd had always had other plans when he proposed in their dining room on their dating anniversary. With several long handwritten letters, each was labeled to his "Best Friend," to his "Business Partner," and the last, to "The Love of his Life." It was that final letter that popped the big question and had Todd waiting on one knee.

Life had always been casual for these two lovebirds, and you know we are all about glamorous wedding days of all styles. But there is something to be said for events that feel like you are right at home with some wedding sparkle. For Meredith and Todd, the historic estate backdrop of The Obici House in Suffolk allowed the beauty of the day to intertwine with their desire to relax and enjoy each moment in rustic elegance. Photographed by Fowler Studios and planned and designed by Michelle Amarillo Event Planning, the bride and groom envisioned shabby chic vintage doors that led down the ceremony and a gorgeous outdoor reception underneath a clear tent and twinkling lights to create the setting for when they said I Do.

One of our favorite details has to be Meredith's bridal gown... because anything with pockets and a statement neckline is perfect in our book! The lush greenery-filled bouquets were accented with roses and Queen Anne's lace to add that chic touch, and gray linens sat gracefully atop wooden farm tables decorated with high and low centerpieces. With its waterside view, Meredith and Todd's day is a quintessential Hampton Roads event, and one that we love to relive over and again.
