At the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Analise and Carlton shared their story with Shannon Moffit Photography in front of gorgeous architecture and downtown art. The grounds were perfectly set for this elegantly stylish couple, but their insight and experience are even moreso as they share below.
What are a few things that you've learned during your first years of marriage?
The main thing that we both learned is that communication is essential in a marriage. Communicating effectively not only means having a meaningful discussion, but also being mindful of body language as well. We spend so much time together expressing our thoughts, hopes, and dreams. It is our mission to ensure we are both fulfilling each other's wants and needs throughout our marriage.
What are your favorite things about each other?
Carlton: I love Analise's personality and how driven she is. She's always focused on being the best person that she can be.
Analise: My favorite thing about Carlton is how kind and thoughtful he is. Carlton's always putting a smile on my face with the kind gestures he does for me on a daily basis.
What's one piece of advice you'd share with newlyweds?
Be open to compromise in your marriage. Take the time to explore new things with each other and make memorable moments together. It is so important to evolve and grow within your marriage. In short, have fun and don't let anything limit the both of you.
Any other tidbits you'd like to share?
Do not lose yourself in your marriage. It can get so exciting doing activities together, but it is so important to do things independent of one another from time to time. Whether it is scheduling a girl's night once a month, going to your favorite workout class solo, or catching a football game with a few friends, make it a priority to always connect with friends and family.
